Exploring Court Farm
Court Farm has been farmed by the Norris family for over 100 years. We grow a variety of crops and rear beef and sheep with plenty of fields, trees and hedgerows supporting an abundance of wildlife. Nestled in the heart of Shropshire’s beautiful countryside, the farm offers wonderful views of the “blue remembered hills” portrayed in A. E. Houseman’s poem A Shropshire Lad.
Half of the farm is arable where crops of wheat, barley, oilseed rapeseed and oats are grown. We have over 130 cattle and 300 breeding ewes which are Suffolk crosses and Welsh Mules. All the cattle are Hereford X and are sold to a leading supermarket as traditional Hereford Beef. We are always more than happy to answer any farming questions you may have.
Court Farm is a member of a farm assurance scheme, which allows us to sell our produce with the Red Tractor mark. The farm also has a Higher Level Stewardship Scheme which encourages plants and wildlife on the farm by using grass and flower margins around arable fields, having areas of low input grassland and managing our hedgerows, which is a government supported conservation scheme and makes for lovely walking around the farm.
There are several walks which start at Court Farm and expand out into the surrounding countryside should you prefer to explore closer to home. We have a wide selection of brochures and maps for guests to borrow and a number of farmland walking routes for you to choose from.
Otherwise, if you’re looking for a more sedate breakaway, you can simply enjoy looking out over the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty from the tranquil setting of our country garden. Whatever your plans, Court Farm offers the perfect retreat from the pressures of modern life.
