Welcome

Launched in August 2022, the Cow House at Court Farm is the first self-catering tourist accommodation in South Shropshire to provide accessible facilities for guests with M3a mobility requirements. We have been accredited by VisitEngland under their National Accessibility Scheme (NAS) standard. 

Our aim is to offer a comfortable and relaxing stay, providing suitable access for all our guests, whatever their individual needs. To make everyone’s stay as enjoyable as possible we have set out to accurately describe our facilities to give you the confidence to book your holiday at the Cow House.

At a Glance

General

  • All areas, inside and outside, at the Cow House have level access, apart from Bedroom 3 and Bedroom 4. 
  • The general living accommodation and Bedroom 1 are rated by the National Accessible Scheme as suitable for:
  • Older and less mobile guests
  • Part-time wheelchair users
  • Assisted wheelchair users

  • We have emergency evacuation procedures for disabled visitors.
  • We have a no smoking / vaping policy in the whole of the building.

Should you have any special requirements, the following items can be provided:

  • Self-propelled shower commode
  • Toilet seat height riser
  • Waterproof mattress protectors
  • Perching stool
  • Shaver adaptor for use in bedroom
  • An emergency alarm call

Please let us know if you require kitchen cupboards under the cooking hob and sink moved.

Please advise us of the position of kitchen items.

A guest information file gives details of local services and emergency procedures.

  • The nearest toilet area for assistance dogs is located in the field to the rear of the property.
  • We have an area to charge mobility scooters and battery powered wheelchairs.

  • We have a car park. There are accessible parking spaces. The parking is less than 10 metres from the main entrance. Parking is free.
  • There is a drop-off point at the main entrance.
  • From the car park to the entrance, there is level access.
  • The route is 1500mm wide, or more.
  • There is a dedicated concrete parking space outside the Cow House with ample room for unloading and maneuvering.

  • The main entrance has level access.
  • The front door is 950mm wide.
  • The front door has a lever handle. 
  • The front door is side hung and manual.
  • When you arrive, we can help carry your luggage.

Getting around inside

Bedroom 1 (M3a)

  • The route to the bedroom is 1150mm wide, or more. 
  • The bedroom door is 800mm wide.  The door has a lever handle.
  • The bedroom is flexible with a zip and link bed offering either one super king bed or two twin beds. 
  • There is unobstructed floor space 1200mm by 1200mm, or more.
  • Accessible space to side of single or super king bed. There is 690mm at the side of the bed. The bed is 650mm high.
  • Bedroom has a ceiling light, bedside wall lights and a touch sensor bedside lamp.
  • Natural daylight from a skylight and glass outside door. The skylight window and blind are operated by remote control.
  • TV with remote control
  • Lower and higher clothes hanging 
  • All bedding is non-allergic.
  • This bedroom has an ensuite wet room. Access is via a sliding door.
  • There is level access via an outside glass door. Access is to a level terraced area.
  • Glass door width is 850mm. The door has a lever handle.

Bedroom 1 with ensuite bathroom (M3a)

Ensuite accessible bathroom (M3a)

  • The bathroom is ensuite. The bathroom door is 800mm wide and is a sliding door.
  • The bathroom has a level access shower.
  • The shower head can be lowered to 1200mm from the floor if required.
  • The level access shower has a handrail.
  • There is a self-propelled shower/commode chair available on request.
  • The direction of transfer onto the toilet is to the left. There is 800mm at the side of the toilet.
  • There is 1100mm in front of the toilet. The toilet seat is 480mm high.
  • The taps are lever operated. The basin is height is 730mm, with no pedestal or boxing.
  • There are grab rails either side of the basin.
  • The skylight window is operated by remote control.

Bedroom 2

  • The route to Bedroom 2 is 1150mm wide. 
  • The bedroom door is 800mm wide. The door has a lever handle.
  • There is a king size bed. 
  • There is 800mm at the side of the bed. The bed is 650mm high. 
  • Bedroom has a ceiling light and two wall mounted bedside lights.
  • Natural daylight from a window.
  • There is a shared bathroom. 
  • Access from Bedroom 2 is via a sliding door, 800mm wide. There is a second door, 790mm wide, that opens on to the corridor.
  • The bathroom has an overhead shower. 
  • The basin is 880mm high. The taps are lever operated. There is no space under the basin.

Bedroom 2 with Jack and Jill bathroom

Bedroom 3

  • The route to Bedroom 3 is 1150mm wide. 
  • There are three steps down into Bedroom 3. There is a wall mounted banister.
  • The bedroom door is 800mm wide. The door has a lever handle.
  • There are twin beds in this room. There is a 1200mm minimum at the side of each bed. The beds are 670mm high. 
  • Bedroom has a ceiling light and two bedside lamps.
  • Natural daylight from a window and glass door.
  • Glass door to be used as fire exit only.
  • There is an ensuite bathroom. 
  • The bathroom door is 800mm wide.
  • The bathroom has an overhead shower. 
  • The basin is 880mm high. The taps are lever operated. There is no space under the basin.

Bathroom 3 with ensuite

Bedroom 4

  • The route to the bedroom is 1150mm wide. 
  • This bedroom is accessed via a flight of stairs (9 steps; 22cm high and 80cm wide). 
  • There is a wall mounted banister. 
  • The bedroom door is 700mm wide. 
  • The bedroom is flexible with a zip and link bed offering either one super king bed or two twin beds. 
  • There is 1200mm at the side of the bed. The bed is 650mm high.
  • Bedroom has a ceiling light and two wall mounted bedside lights.
  • Natural daylight from a skylight with fitted blind.
  • This room is to use the Jack and Jill bathroom.

Bedroom 4

Kitchen

  • We have an open plan kitchen.
  • From the main entrance to the kitchen, there is level access.
  • The route is 1200mm wide, or more.
  • The door is 950mm wide.
  • Removable cupboard from under kitchen sink.
  • Removable cupboard from under kitchen hob.
  • Pull-out heat resistant working surface alongside kitchen hob. 
  • Pull-out heat resistant working surface under side-opening microwave oven.
  • Pull-out heat resistant working surface under side-opening main oven.
  • The crockery is kept in eye level kitchen units with pull-down shelves but can be moved to base units on request.
  • Colour coded kitchen taps.
  • Ample cupboard space for kitchen crockery/glassware/cutlery at accessible level.

Dining area

Lounge

  • From the main entrance to the lounge, there is level access. The route is 820mm wide, or more. The door is 820mm wide.
  • The lounge area is open plan with the kitchen
  • There are two sofas and two armchairs, seat 430mm from floor and an additional high

Getting around outside

Garden

  • From the main entrance to the garden, there is level access.
  • Level access from the property to the garden from the front door or patio windows.

 Terrace

  • From the main entrance to this area, there is level access. The entrance is 1500mm wide.
  • Level access from the property to the terrace from the front door or patio windows.
  • To get to a table, there are no steps.
  • The table is 750mm high with clear under-space 670mm from floor to table edge.
    Chairs have a seat height of 430mm.
  • There is access to the field either via the steps from the terrace or via the level area at the front of the property.
